C.A.R.E. is organized as a nonprofit mutual benefit corporation under 501(c) federal non profit laws.  Our focus is bridging the identity of CA adoptees. 

Our mission incorporates adult adoptees, birthmothers, adoptive parents, affiliated adoption and birthmother organizations, adoption medical providers, family lawyers, and friends who share a common goal:  providing adult adoptees with their original record of birth and their original identity.

AB 372(Ma)  (Original bill introduced on 2/23/2009) was introduced February 23rd, by Assembly Member Fiona Ma (San Francisco).
The original language in AB 372 amends existing legal code which contains a disclosure veto for birthmothers effective in 1984. The change that we are requesting will allow adult adoptees over the age of 18 access to their original record of birth and an exemption from the current requirement of necessitious. What's important is that it creates a legal right for adult adoptees to get their original birth record and gives the court no option but to release the original record of birth upon request from the adoptee.
